After the tragedy that happened with Otto Warmbier, a young American student that had the misfortune of being held prisoner by North Korea and their regime, America was shocked and sad.
He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, however, he was sent home before his sentence ended, due to many efforts of the Trump administration, that finally took it upon themselves to finish a job that Obama couldn’t.
However he died shortly after, it was suspected that foul play was involved and that the North Koreans had tortured Otto until he was dead.
Incredibly, not everyone felt sorry for Otto and his situation, like Katherine Dettwyler, a professor from the University of Delaware.
She decided to post on her Facebook something that she would shortly after regret, she posted that Otto’s attitude was “typical of a mindset of a lot of the young, white, rich, clueless males who come into my classes.”
That statement suggests that because of Otto’s social standing and his skin color that Katherine believes that he “got exactly what he deserved.”
A very cruel statement to make about a fellow American that has passed away due to mistreatment while being held, prisoner. The Professor would go on to regret saying that, as the university has communicated that she is now no longer employed by them, she was fired for being so uncompassionate towards a fellow American.
The University released the following statement:
“Katherine Dettwyler, who last taught in the spring as an adjunct faculty member, will not be rehired to teach at the University in the future.”
